When I retired ten years ago from a psychotherapy practice I took up painting and it has become my passion. I love everything about painting- the luscious oil paints, painting en plein air, the creative process, the critiques from elite teachers and the camaraderie of other artists who share the same passion and commitment to learning a craft as artists have done through the ages.
While I have attended workshops around the country, I primarily study at the Yellow Barn at Glen Echo Park with well known artist and teacher, Walter Bartman. I am also on the board of the Friends of the Yellow Barn and participate in making the Yellow Barn a welcome place to create art.
I have been juried into the prestigious Yellow Barn member show for the last two years and was in a juried show at Rehoboth Art League in 2015 featuring American landscapes. I have participated in many shows at the Yellow Barn and elsewhere and my paintings appear in many homes.
While my work is somewhat representational I try to capture the feeling and essence of a view focusing on the color, light and shapes that appear in nature.
