The Yellow Barn Family lost one of itís own.
Helen Corning joined the Yellow Barn Studio in 1994. She taught at the Yellow Barn
Studio for twenty years. She was instrumental in helping to make the Yellow Barn
Studio community what it is today.
This past year, she retired from teaching and moved to Thomaston, Maine, to be near
her daughter. A number of us were fortunate to have seen Helen this summer. She
looked great! A show of her paintings ended on August 11 and she passed away on
September 14, 2011. She worked on her art her whole life, giving 100% to everything and
Helen has devoted her life to her family, art and the many students she taught over the
years. Her memory will always live on. There was no one like her. At ninety, she like
Picasso, had an energy that inspired the many who knew her and studied with her. We
will always be her students and she will always be in our hearts.
